First Moll, and now Bex....

..... prodding me to update my teeny weeny bit of blogland!! Well, I do have some news I suppose...

First of all, I handed in my notice on October 2nd, and I'm actually looking forward to leaving the company, but not all the friends I have worked with over the past 2 years. A shame, but hey, a job popped up that suits me better, and pays a helluva lot more money!! I will be (as of Monday 6th Nov) working for a large pharmaceutical company. (Next door to High Wycombe's John Lewis store Bex!! I'll keep an eye out for the lovely blonde-haired box-shaped-headed lady in a GTI!!!)

I am trying to persuade my parents to let me buy a new car, that's actually 36 years old!! I am looking at a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T with the 440 ci (cubic inches) V8 (7.2 litres for you Brits and Continental types!!) Only trouble is, it's 2 inches wider than our garage, and about 3 feet longer. Hmmm.... anyone fancy helping me with some banging and grinding to slip it inside?!
Delbut will probably shake his head in shame if he reads the previous sentence!!

Also finally looking to get some new amplifiers and cabinets for my bass. Ultimate rig would include the Bag End ELF (Extended Low Frequency) integrator - it produces freqs so low, you feel the bass rather than hear it!!! Co-incidentally, it was partly developed by Ron Wickersham, the guy who helped found Alembic Instruments, makers of John's Boris bass guitars. My amps will be either:
1 David Eden WT-800 stereo amp (400 Watts per side), with Eden 4x10" and 1x15" cabs.
2 Alembic F1-X mono pre-amp into a QSC PLX series amp, driving EA cabs.

Both seriously pricey, but good gear shows up crap techniques quicker than anything else!!!

Sad news in my world is my best friend at work losing her baby girl after 4 days of life. An undetected heart defect was found and operated on after birth, but she didn't make it through.

Happier news is the abdominalpain I've had for the last year has been diagnosed and treated, and won't require any medical probing from any direction to find the problem. Mighty relieved about that!!!

Happier still will be next week when I leave on the 2nd, I'm going to see Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings at Wycombe Swan, and will be out on the town the Friday evening (3rd).

Hope to see you friends and colleagues who peer in and don't comment out on the town with me 5:45 sharp in O'Neill's!!! of course, all bloggers are welcome to come along and join the show!!
I haven't touched the liquor since July; at least it saves me vocal chords from drying out, if I'm suddenly called upon to sing ' Jerusalem', 'Nessun Dorma' or 'Land of Hope and Glory'!! It's been a long time since I've sung opera, and I only did standard backing vocals with the band at univeristy.

Take care people, and hope to see some of you out on the tiles, supporting me home...

...well to the comfort of the bus shelter anyway!!!

Hi Ben!
I saw you at Rachel's so I thought I'd pop by!
Glad you are well - congrats for not drinking and fantastic that your abdominal pain went away.
So you are in a band? Cool!
Yeah alcohol is bad for the vocal chords and it cuts into your vitality (although it releases inhibitions of course) so I think you're singing wii have more umph w/out it!
Ok enough lecturing. I honestly tried to stop drinking but have never given it up for more than 6 months...now I don't drink that often...I'm much better w/out it but I DO like it now and then.

Anyway - very sad about your friends baby...your poor friend.
That's a tough one.

I REALLY miss chatting w/ you and Del and all the other regulars at Molly's!
I think I'll call her later and work on setting one up!
She's my guest for the meet and greet at the Attic Jam in LA.
Can't WAIT!

Take care Ben!
See ya.
Love,
Suesxx

Hiya Ben
Well done for updating your blog.

Sounds like much change ahead - but positive so good on you - and good luck with it all!

Hope the new job is all you wish it to be - and I am sure you could have the car without having to butcher the garage? Cars do survive on the road I have heard lol

Keep in touch
Love bex xx

BEn. i'll come and build you a bigger garage, mate.

Good to see you back blogging and chuffed about your good news. Even though you had a dig at me over at Blog central (rach) They wont let me in to Herts since the time i changed all the traffic lights to purple.

Can only officially come as far east as Wiltshire. (too many traffic lights there to mess with)so cant do drinkies with you.

Although, yes, if it ever gets past the "it would be good to have a blog get together stage" urm...it would be good ...blah, blah. I think it needs someone in the london area to organise it though. i'm too far away here.

Hope you get a ticket for sunday.I'm sure there will be touts about. IF yu are there, look for me. I'll be the one weasring a disguise to hide from the female clergy.

Hi Ben...YEAHHHHH!! A New blog (bout damn time...lol Look who's talking!) So sorry for your friend. My first cousin who I am very close to lost his baby in August. It was very very hard to be part of, especially since I have been trying for over 2 years to have another now. It was pretty amazing how our family seems to pull all together time and time again, especially with my Grandfathers recent passing almost a year ago. I hope your friend has good support and of course you can be of strength!

I love old cars...post a pic of the one you are looking into!

See you in the chat today!
