Mikey and the Casbah Club rock at Riga!
Morning, afternoon or evening all!
Wow!! What a fantastic night Sunday was! Club Riga was blessed with not 1 but 2 great artists yesterday, and the smaller crowd made it feel a bit more special to those of us who were there.
A number of bloggers were there, namely Marietta, her Mum Lia, Tom Matcham, Mark and Jilly T, Cat Stevens and her friend (sorry couldn't hear her name last night!). We all parked ourselves in the Cricketer's Inn next door, and were joined by Mikey and Rene, followed by a load of Mikey's relatives!
Come 8:30, we all moseyed (sic!) into Riga, and Mikey quickly opened the evening. Highlights included (in no particular order!):
Tourist
Plasticene
My Pigeon Friend
Invisible
White Stripes
Misery
Clever Girl
Here's some pics of Mikey doing his thang!

After a short break, Casbah Club came on to show us what they could do!
Simon (sans woolly hat, mais avec glasses de lune!) came out bouncing and in a mood for making great music. Bruce Watson was clearly well appreiciated by his CC colleagues and Simon could express himself more openly with Bruce taking the lead on the 6-string.
Mark and Bruce were dependable as ever, Bruce stomping the stage with his black maple-necked P-bass booming out an all-Ampeg rig behind, and Mark sitting low down driving the beat of the band.
Here's some piccies of the Casbah Club in action:

So, a fantastic night - the only trouble is the tinnitus I have in my right ear is going ten to the dozen and whistling constantly, but I think I can put up with it for now!!

Dear Ben
First of all thanks for your very adequate response to the silly things that happened today.
Thanks also for a really insightful account of the Southend gig. It's a bit like in the Basement revisited!
WHAT A FANTASTIC REVIEW!!!!! Send this to Simon and Mikey's emails or blogs or myspace accounts...I am sure they would both love it. They both look Fab, espeically Simon without his cap..WHO KNEW?

Sounds like a great show...how did they sound as a 4-piece?
Hi Ben. Ta for the jokes over at my blog. little did you know that i would be assessing them in a professional way and would like to offer you the compare/comedian job at The Fuller-shits gigs. well done. Think it's best this way as my career with Neil has taken a back seat since he became more famous. Ah well.
Trevor has pulled out of the band (ooer) and i have offered the job to Bex.
BTW. The condom post was hilarious. I'll have a pack of KFC ones, please
Ben
Very curious, how is the camera doing?
Can't wait to see the first results!
Guitar salesman pointed the VariAx out to me. Strange thing but verververy impressive too. Available as a bass as well.
What do you say?
