Ascot was a great time - I won the tickets for 2 people to go all-expenses paid for the final day, as it was fab! Of the six races, I picked 3 winners, 2 seconds and 1 27th (don't ask!!) I left the course with about £500! Good for a couple of drinks with my work friends...
Thanks for the invite to join in with your chat during the Attic - I had a quick peek during Episode 7, but will take the plunge and join you during episode 9!
Thanks for your best wishes, and I'm glad to say my Mum is getting better all the time. She had slight peralysis of the face on Thursday afternoon, which was gone by Friday morning. Her ear's the only thing that seems slightly out of place, but she has some slight tinnitus in that ear which may help explain that.
With regards to instruments, I am primarily a bass (electric) player, although I do like to strum along (poorly!) on guitar. I also play trombone, but it doesn't look quite as good on stage!! I also play about on my Mum's keyboards and organ, which are great fun. When she was young, she stayed at a family friend's home in Devon, and used to play his amplified organ at the house. It could be heard 2 miles away down the valley in the village!!
Luckily for the neighbours, she plays far better than me!!! Interestingly, neither of us read music (I used to when taking lessons) and can play along by ear to most things. Very rarely, I'll do backing vocals, kinda like John used to in The 'Oo, more of a baritone pitch when I do operatic stuff, and falsetto when I'm mucking about, or after attacking some helium balloons!!!
Do they really require you to dress up like that for Ascot? I mean, do they throw you out otherwise? Ascot is advertised in Finland by travel agencies as a sort of "exotic" thing to do in England. Fun talking on BallerinaGurl's chat yesterday.
Now work for a large pharmaceutical company, where everyone seems really friendly and great. Damn shame I work in a department with about 3 other guys and around 30 women. It's a hard life, I tell you!!

Hi Ben, I read your post on rachel's blog and wanted to say hi. You sound like a great son.
Hope your mom is doing better.
Love your ascot outfit!
What instrument(s) do you play?
Nice to "meet" you!
